Eucharistic miracles are extraordinary, approved Catholic events where consecrated bread and wine visibly transform into human heart tissue or blood, typically during moments of doubt or to confirm the Real Presence. These phenomena often feature living myocardium tissue (type AB) from the left ventricle, remaining miraculously preserved despite lack of preservatives.
This article contains lists of these miracles.

Carlo Acutislisted over 150 Eucharistic miracles during his lifetime. He became a canonized Catholic saint on 7 September 2025.

1 Austria Fiecht 1310 Wine turns into blood boils overflows chalice, doubting priest.
The little village of St. Georgenberg-Fiecht in the Inn Valley is very well known - especially because of a Eucharistic miracle that took place there in 1310. During the Mass, the priest was seized with temptations regarding the Real Presence of Jesus in the consecrated Elements. Right after the consecration, the wine changed into Blood and began to boil and overflow the chalice. In 1480, after 170 years, the Sacred Blood was "still fresh as though coming out of a wound," wrote the chronicler of those days. The Precious Blood is preserved intact to this day and is contained in the reliquary in the Monastery of St. Georgenberg.

12a Croatia Ludbreg 1411 Wine turned to blood.
The wine in the chalice transformed into blood.
During Mass at Ludbreg in 1411, a priest doubted whether the Body and Blood of Christ were really present in the Eucharistic species. Immediately after being consecrated, the wine turned into Blood. Today the precious relic of the miraculous Blood still draws thousands of the faithful, and every year at the beginning of September the so-called “Sveta Nedilja - Holy Sunday” is celebrated for an entire week in honor of the Eucharistic miracle that occurred in 1411.

Blood flowed from the host and gathered in a cup.
The Eucharistic miracle of Blanot took place during the Easter Mass of 1331. During Communion, a Host fell to a cloth that was held below the communicant’s mouth. The priest tried to pick up the Holy Eucharist, but it was not possible. The Host had transformed into Blood, resulting in a stain the same size as the Host, on the cloth. That cloth is preserved today in the village of Blanot.

The Eucharistic miracle of Augsburg, is known locally as Wunderbarlichen Gutes – “The Miraculous Good”. It is described in numerous books and historical documents that can be consulted in the civic state library of Augsburg. A stolen Host was transformed into bleeding Flesh. In the course of the centuries, several analyses were completed of the Holy Particle that have always confirmed that human Flesh and Blood are present. Today the Convent of the Heileg Kreuz (Holy Cross) is taken care of by the Dominican Fathers.

43 Italy Bolsena 1264 Host turns into Flesh. Pope and Thomas Aquinas witness host. A related relic is the Corporal of Bolsena.
A host bled onto the altar cloth (corporal) during Mass, prompting the creation of the Corpus Christi feast.
In 1263 a German priest, Peter of Prague, stopped at Bolsena while on a pilgrimage to Rome. He was celebrating Mass in the Basilica of Bolsena, and when the moment of consecration arrived, the Host was transformed into Flesh. This miracle strengthened the wavering belief of the priest in the Real Presence of Christ in the Eucharist. The Sacred Body was inspected by Urban Pope IV and by St. Thomas Aquinas. This miracle helped convince the Pope to extend the feast of Corpus Christi to the universal Church so that everyone could recognize the love God has for those who love and worship Him.

Blood flowed from the host during the elevation.
During a Mass in Boxmeer, in Holland, in the year 1400, the species of wine was transformed into Blood and bubbled out of the chalice, splashing onto the corporal. The priest, terrorized at the sight, asked God to forgive his doubts, and the Blood immediately stopped bubbling out of the chalice. The Blood that had fallen on the corporal coagulated into a lump the size of a walnut. Even today one can see the Blood, which has not changed at all over time.

In the year 1370, the pastor of Cimballa was assaulted during the Mass with a strong doubt about the True Presence of Jesus in the Eucharist. The Host transformed into Flesh, and Blood began to flow onto the altar linens. The episode re-enforced the wavering faith of the priest who penitently retired to a monastery, dedicating himself to a life of penance and prayer. Every year on the 12th of September, the memory of the miracle in the parish church is celebrated where, even now, the relic of the corporal soaked in the Blood is kept.

A consecrated host appeared in the air, allowing it to be returned to the church.
At Ettiswil, there is a shrine dedicated to a Eucharistic miracle that happened in 1447. Ann Vögtli, a member of a satanic sect, was able to steal the pyx containing the large Host from the parochial church. The Host was found close to a fence in the middle of some nettle bushes, lifted high up and surrounded by a vivid light, and was divided into seven Pieces which were joined together so that They looked like a flower. Many Popes granted indulgences to the shrine's visitors. The great feast of the miracle’s chapel takes place on “Laetare” Sunday and on the two following days.

4 Colombia Tumaco 1906 Island saved by Blessed Sacrament.
The Eucharist stopped a tidal wave.
The undersea earthquake in 1906 on the Pacific Coast caused enormous damage in many areas. Fr. Bernardino Garcia of the Conception, who at the time was in the City of Panama, gave the following testimony regarding the terrible cataclysm that struck the area. “Unexpectedly an enormous wave (we refer to them as tsunamis today) crashed into the port, reached into the market area and destroyed everything. Boats that had been drawn up on shore were picked up and hurled long distances away, causing heavy losses”. The small island of Tumaco was spared by a miracle thanks to the faith of the people and the blessing with the Blessed Sacrament by Fr Gerardo Larrondo.

That day, the eruption mysteriously spared the village of Morne-Rouge, located between Saint-Pierre and Mount Pelée. The prodigious event was accompanied by an apparition of Jesus and His Sacred Heart in the Host exposed for public Eucharistic adoration. There were many witnesses to that extraordinary phenomenon.

1 Egypt Scete 3rd-4th cent. Infant Jesus seen in place of bread.
The account of this Eucharistic miracle goes back to the first centuries of Christianity and is found in the apothegm of the Fathers of the Desert who lived in the desert after the example of St. Anthony, Abbot. A monk had doubts regarding the Real Presence of Jesus in the bread and wine consecrated at Mass. After the consecration the Infant Jesus was seen in place of the Bread. Three companion monks witnessed the same appearance.

1  South Korea Naju 1995 Several incidents reported by Julia Kim, where the host reportedly turned into visible flesh and blood. Photos taken during these events, notably in September 1995, show a small, blood-stained, heart-like shape.
The Eucharistic Miracle of Naju (The Sacred Heart of the Divine Victim) By Bishop Roman Danylak.
It looked like a heart when we first examined the photos taken September 22, 1995 during the Mass celebrated in a valley among the Naju hills in Korea. Some time in November, 1995, I showed the photos taken to a pediatrician, Dr. Helen Owen. After attentive examination, she said the heart in the photo was the size and had the exact configurations of the heart of an infant.

2  Malaysia Sibu 1996 Stephen: "It happened in 1996. Mama Julia came to Sibu, when I was attending Mass, at that time was September 17. While they received the Holy Communion, one of the church members sensed a very strong scent of blood from Mama Julia's mouth. She was just beside Mama Julia. After that, people started to focus on the position of Mama Julia. And, then Father Francis Su and our Bishop Dominic Su at the time, approached Mother Julia. Then she opened her mouth, and we found that the received Holy Communion in her mouth had turned into the Flesh and Blood of Jesus Christ. It was really a Eucharistic miracle that happened in our parish. I was so honored. I could witness the Eucharistic miracle that happened in our parish. When Mama Julia received the Holy Communion, it turned into the Flesh and Blood of Our Lord Jesus Christ, which means that the Holy Communion received by the parishioners is really the Body and Blood of Christ Our Lord Jesus. Jesus, Who lived 2,000 years ago, is still alive nowadays. So when we receive Holy Communion, we really receive the Body and Blood of Our Lord Jesus Christ."
3 India Chirattakonam 2001 Image of Christ appears on the Host.
A face appeared on the host during adoration.
This Eucharistic miracle was verified recently, on May 5, 2001 in Trivandrum (ARCHDIOCESE OF TRIVANDRUM), India. In the Host there appeared the likeness of a man similar to that of Christ crowned with thorns. His Beatitude Cyril Mar Baselice, Archbishop of the diocese of Trivandrum, wrote regarding this prodigy: “[…] For us believers what we have seen is something that we have always believed […]. If our Lord is speaking to us by giving us this sign, it certainly needs a response from us”. The monstrance containing the miraculous Host is to this day kept in the church.

In January of 2020, ChurchPOP reported that the Holy Face of Jesus allegedly appeared on a Eucharistic host in India.
The Vatican recently approved this Eucharistic miracle in India, 12 years after it occurred.

4   The Eucharistic Miracles in Lebanon

1   The Eucharistic Miracle associated with Patriarch of the Maronite Church (Jeremiah II al-Amshitti, 1215)

In November 1215, during the Fourth Lateran Council in Rome, a Eucharistic miracle occurred involving Maronite Patriarch Jeremiah II Al-Amshiti. While celebrating Mass in old St. Peter’s Basilica in the presence of Pope Innocent III, the consecrated host remained suspended in the air after the Patriarch released it, surrounded by light, affirming the newly defined doctrine of transubstantiation

The Fourth Lateran Council (1215) was the official declaration of the true presence of Christ in the Eucharist, confirming that the bread and wine are truly transformed into the body and blood of Christ.

Patriarch of the Maronite Church (Jeremiah II al-Amshitti, 1215)

2   The "Eucharistic City" of Zahle (1825 - Present).

While traditionally a Melkite Greek Catholic event, this is a profound Eucharistic phenomenon in Lebanon. In 1825, the city of Zahle was spared from a bubonic plague plague following a procession with the Blessed Sacrament, a miraculous intervention that has been commemorated annually for nearly 200 years.

3   The Eucharistic Miracle associated with St. Charbel Makhlouf (Annaya 1898).

According to the testimonies documented by Father Hanna Iskandar in his book "Charbel as Witnessed by His Contemporaries," during the last Mass (1898) of the hermit Father Charbel Makhlouf (the saint), the following occurred:

  • After the hermit recited the words of consecration, Rachel, the young daughter of Joseph Saba, saw a beautiful child in the place of the host when the hermit lifted it up. She cried out turning to her aunt: "Look my aunt, how beautiful is this child !".
  • While the hermit was breaking the bread, Rachel was sobbing. Her aunt asked her, "Why are you crying?" She replied, "Don't you see that the hermit is cutting the child in two?"

The Eucharistic Miracles in Lebanon (Arabic) -

Patriarch of the Maronite Church (Jeremiah II al-Amshitti, 1215)

Zahle Lebanon

5   Stigmata corresponding to the Crucifixion Wounds of Jesus Christ

Several saints in the Catholic tradition are reported to have borne the stigmata (bodily marks corresponding to Christ’s wounds)Stigmata corresponding to the crucifixion wounds of Jesus Christ
Stigmata in Catholicism, are bodily wounds, scars and pain which appear in locations corresponding to the crucifixion wounds of Jesus Christ: the hands, wrists, feet, near the heart, the head (from the crown of thorns), and back (from carrying the cross and scourging).
Saint Paul does not traditionally hold the stigmata (mystical wounds of Christ) in the same way saints like Francis of Assisi do. Instead, in Galatians 6:17, Paul states, "I bear on my body the marks of Jesus," likely referring to physical scars from persecution—beatings, stoning, and imprisonment—that signify his devotion.

44 Italy Marie de Moerl Marie de Moerl  (1812-68) spent her life at Kaltern, Tyrol . At the age of twenty she became an ecstatic, and ecstasy was her habitual condition for the remaining thirty-five years of her life. She emerged from it only at the command, sometimes only mental, of the Franciscan who was her director, and to attend to the affairs of her house, which sheltered a large family. Her ordinary attitude was kneeling on her bed with hands crossed on her breast, and an expression of countenance which deeply impressed spectators. At twenty-two she received the stigmata. On Thursday evening and Friday these stigmata shed very clear blood, drop by drop, becoming dry on the other days. Thousands of persons saw Marie de Moerl, among them Görres (who describes his visit in his "Mystik", II, xx), Wiseman, and Lord Shrewsbury, who wrote a defence of the ecstatic in his letters published by "The Morning Herald" and "The Tablet" (cf. Boré, op. cit. infra).
45 Belgium Louise Lateau Louise Lateau  (1850-83) spent her life in the village of Bois d'Haine, Belgium. The graces she received were disputed even by some Catholics, who as a general thing relied on incomplete or erroneous information, as has been established by Canon Thiery ("Examen de ce qui concerne Bois d'Haine", Louvain, 1907). At sixteen she devoted herself to nursing the cholera victims of her parish, who were abandoned by most of the inhabitants. Within a month she nursed ten, buried them, and in more than one instance bore them to the cemetery. At eighteen she became an ecstatic and stigmatic, which did not prevent her supporting her family by working as a seamstress. Numerous physicians witnessed her painful Friday ecstasies and established the fact that for twelve years she took no nourishment save weekly communion. For drink she was satisfied with three or four glasses of water a week. She never slept, but passed her nights in contemplation and prayer, kneeling at the foot of her bed.
46 Lebanon St Rafqa Ar-Rayès Saint Rafqa Ar-Rayès (1832–1914), a Maronite nun canonized in 2001, experienced profound spiritual and physical suffering in Lebanon, which she interpreted as sharing in Christ's Passion. She experienced extreme,, continuous pain in her eyes, head, and a severe, long-term, painful wound on her shoulder, often linked to Christ's sixth wound of carrying the cross.
47 Syria Myrna Nazzour  of Soufanieh The stigmata of Soufanieh refers to the reported mystical experiences of Myrna Nazzour, a young married woman from the Soufanieh district of Damascus, Syria. Starting in November 1982, Myrna reportedly experienced the manifestation of stigmata (the wounds of Christ) and the flowing of oil from her hands, body, and an icon.
Recurrence of the phenomenon: The wounds appeared on Mirna Soufani's body several times, specifically in the years 1982, 1983, 1984, 1990, 2001, and 2004.
48 Lebanon Helena Abi Khalil Helena Abi Khalil (died 2021) was a Lebanese woman from Baskinta, renowned for bearing the stigmata (wounds of Christ) on her hands, feet, shoulder, and hip for over 20 years, in addition to the appearance of oil and incense, and reports of apparitions of Saint Charbel to her. Her story is considered in local church tradition a powerful sign of faith.
