Harissa - The Shrine of Our Lady of Lebanon

Harissa is a prominent mountain village and a major Christian pilgrimage site located about 27 kilometers north of Beirut and 650 meters above the bay of Jounieh.
The village is most famous for the Shrine of Our Lady of Lebanon (Sayyidat Lubnān), which was inaugurated in 1908. The sanctuary features a towering 15-ton, white-bronze statue of the Virgin Mary with her arms outstretched. It is a highly revered site that attracts both Christian and Muslim visitors, serving as a powerful national symbol of unity and peace.
Location & Accessibility
Harissa overlooks the Mediterranean coast and offers panoramic views of Jounieh and Beirut. Visitors can reach the hilltop sanctuary by car or by taking a popular 9-minute gondola lift called the Téléphérique, which departs from the coastal city of Jounieh.

In 1908, the dream of Patriarch Elias Howayek saw the light; a Sanctuary on the name of the Virgin Mary, Our Lady of Lebanon, was launched on one of the most beautiful hills of our homeland to embrace her children of all sects and creeds.

The Cathedral of Saint Paul is located in Harissa, Lebanon, near the great cathedral of Our Lady of Harissa. The church's foundation began in 1947 and was then inaugurated and consecrated in 1998. Its architecture was completed by an Armenian specialist in Byzantine architecture, and a Greek iconography specialist also aided in the design.
The church was originally made for a missionary place for Melkite Catholics and Melkite Fathers, and today, it remains a missionary spot. It also remains a popular touristic destination for locals and others.

سيدة لبنان - حريصا في لبنان سيدة حريصا - مزار سيدة لبنان تُعد حاريصا قرية جبلية بارزة ووجهة رئيسية للحج المسيحي، وتقع على بعد حوالي 27 كيلومتراً شمال بيروت وعلى ارتفاع 650 متراً فوق خليج جونية. تشتهر القرية بكونها موطناً لمزار "سيدة لبنان" الذي افتُتح عام 1908. ويضم المزار تمثالاً شاهقاً للسيدة العذراء وهي باسطة ذراعيها، وهو مصنوع من البرونز الأبيض ويزن 15 طناً. يُعتبر هذا الموقع مكاناً يحظى بتبجيل كبير ويستقطب الزوار من المسيحيين والمسلمين على حد سواء، كما يمثل رمزاً وطنياً قوياً للوحدة والسلام. الموقع وكيفية الوصول تطل حاريصا على ساحل البحر الأبيض المتوسط وتوفر إطلالات بانورامية على مدينتي جونية وبيروت. ويمكن للزوار الوصول إلى المزار الواقع على قمة الجبل بالسيارة أو عبر استخدام "التلفريك" (عربة التلفريك)، وهي وسيلة نقل شهيرة تستغرق رحلتها 9 دقائق وتنطلق من مدينة جونية الساحلية. في عام 1908، أبصر حلم البطريرك إلياس الحويك النور؛ إذ أُنشئ مزارٌ على اسم السيدة العذراء مريم - سيدة لبنان - فوق واحدة من أجمل تلال وطننا، ليحتضن أبناءها من مختلف الطوائف والمذاهب. كاتدرائية القديس بولس للروم الملكيين الكاثوليك في حريصا، لبنان تقع كاتدرائية القديس بولس في حريصا بلبنان، بالقرب من كاتدرائية سيدة حريصا الكبرى. بدأ العمل في تأسيس الكنيسة عام 1947، ثم افتتحت وكُرِّست عام 1998. وقد أُنجز تصميمها المعماري على يد متخصص أرمني في العمارة البيزنطية، كما ساهم في التصميم أيضاً متخصص يوناني في فن الأيقونات. أُنشئت الكنيسة في الأصل لتكون مركزاً إرسالياً للروم الملكيين الكاثوليك والآباء الملكيين، وهي لا تزال تؤدي هذا الدور الإرسالي حتى اليوم، فضلاً عن كونها وجهة سياحية يقصدها السكان المحليون والزوار على حد سواء.
